Founded in 2013 by artist Aida Mahmudova, CHELEBI reimagines Azerbaijan’s visual heritage through the lens of contemporary design. Trained at Central Saint Martins and founder of YARAT in Baku, Mahmudova positions herself not merely as a curator, but as a cultural translator.

Working with the Azerbaijan National Museum of Art and a network of regional artisans, CHELEBI excavates traditional motifs, revives forgotten techniques, and recreates from them objects of the now. The results occupy a compelling liminal space: sophisticated enough to enter global design discourse, yet authentic enough to carry genuine cultural weight.
