Since 2017, following training in industrial design in Liège and welding instruction, Chanel Kapitanj has explored metal as a living material. Through welding, erosion, and textural work, she transforms steel into surfaces imbued with sensitivity, at times raw, at times subtle. Under her hand, the metal reveals unexpected warmth.

Her process negotiates with fire’s unpredictability. What appears as controlled gesture harbors calculated risk: the weld pool’s behavior, thermal expansion, the exact moment before distortion. Each piece emerges from this dialogue between metallurgical properties and the maker’s anticipation: a practice where technical literacy enables, rather than constrains, material expression.
