Beginning with painting and drawing, Thomas Junghans (b. 1956, Germany) gradually evolved toward three-dimensional work at the age of twenty, exploring wood, bronze, and occasionally stone.

Among the most characteristic works in Junghans’ oeuvre are his ‘portraits’ and the so-called ‘Suites’—assembled figures composed of abstract forms, often bearing figurative elements in their origins or details. Both series exhibit a remarkable equilibrium between serene stillness and potent expression.
