HELOISE PIRAUD
Héloïse Piraud is a French artist specializing in ceramics. Born in Paris in 1988, she graduated from the Sorbonne Paris IV with a degree in Art History and Archaeology. It was later that she trained in sculpture, specializing in faience modeling, before settling in a large shared ceramics studio in Montreuil.
By working with clay using tools that combine ancestral traditions and innovative processes, Héloïse Piraud pushes her material approach to its limits. She shapes the formal aspects of the elements and then adds twists and movements, risking collapse. Her aim is to question the properties and boundaries of clay.
For her, the inflated form is impertinent, destined to burst or wither. Through her creations, she seeks to capture this state of uncertainty. The colors and shapes of everyday life unconsciously influence her and resurface in her work. She lets intuition guide much of her creation, while constantly refining her pursuit of simplicity. Accident and chance are always invited into the production process, although they are quickly reorchestrated.
